It never ends. She's breathing hard and her lungs are threatening to give up with the force of her breathing, but as much as she'd like to she can't just stop, her body's instinct for survival greater than her will for the suffering to end. Terror smiles upon her like a friend, the one that if anybody really listened to, would see the menace in the softly spoken words, the blow delivered to her fragile mind with seemingly innocent jokes. The silence crushes her resolve like terror does her will, ragged breaths and gasps, the padding of her feet, the barely audible brush of her dress against her skin, these are not sounds that can drown out the silence. Even the walls laugh at her desperate attempts to struggle forward, the pain in her body tendrils of darkness holding her back. She can escape, she knows she can. The corridor seems endless, and death with his beckoning finger and words crafted as carefully as the web of the spider is as tempting to her as the trap laid down for the fly. She would welcome it in fact, if it wasn't for her reflex reaction of her body that was no longer her to live, to escape. Her conscious brain had admitted it was hopeless, there was no way out, but something in her was still fighting, legs staggering on forwards. Dead rats her friends, corpses littering the floor, but there is something comforting in finding traces of life that were once here. The corridor. All at once she realises she is going the wrong way, that the light is supposed to be at the end of the tunnel, but the more she struggles the darker it gets. The pain is a distraction from the fear now, taunting her, willing her to fail, his icy breath on her shoulder as she whips round and runs. But this isn't right either. It keeps getting darker. It's a trap. You can't get out. It never ends.
This is basically a metaphor for what depression feels like. It isn't 100% right, but it is as close as I felt I could get.
